Can I download audio from an Instagram Reel?

Yes. Paste the URL of a public Instagram Reel and keep Audio only selected to prepare its sound as an MP3 download.

Does the audio downloader work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in modern mobile browsers. On iPhone or iPad, use the Share menu after opening the file and choose Save to Files.

Can I download audio from a private Reel?

No. The Reel must be publicly accessible. This tool cannot access private accounts or restricted content.

Do you store downloaded Reel audio?

No. The request is processed when you submit it, and the site does not keep a library of your downloads.

Can I reuse the downloaded audio?

Only reuse audio when you have permission or another valid legal basis. Copyright and Instagram terms still apply to downloaded material.

How the Instagram Audio Downloader Works

The tool works in three steps, and each one completes in a few seconds for a typical 30-second Reel:

  1. You paste a public Reel URL. The link must start with https://www.instagram.com/reel/ followed by a unique ID. Links from private accounts, close-friends Stories, or age-restricted content will return an error — the tool only accesses content Instagram already serves publicly.
  2. The server fetches the Reel's video file from Instagram's CDN. Instagram serves public Reels as MP4 files with AAC audio. The tool reads the MP4 container, extracts the audio track, and converts it to MP3 at the source bitrate — no re-encoding to a lower quality.
  3. You preview and save the MP3. The audio file appears in your browser for instant playback. Tap or click Save to Device to download it. On iPhone, the file lands in the Files app; on Android, it goes to Downloads. From there you can move it to your music library or set it as a ringtone.

Quality limits: If the creator uploaded a Reel with low-quality audio — for example, a compressed voice memo recorded on a poor microphone — the extracted MP3 will match that low quality. No tool can recover fidelity that wasn't there to begin with. Most Reels are mono; stereo audio appears occasionally on music-focused uploads but Instagram does not guarantee it. The extracted audio length matches the Reel's exact duration — if a creator used a 15-second clip of a song in a 30-second Reel, you get the full 30 seconds of audio as heard in the Reel, not the full original song. Common Errors and What They Mean

If audio extraction fails, the tool shows an error message. Here are the most common ones and what to do about each:

  1. “Invalid URL” or “Reel not found.” The link is truncated, malformed, or the Reel was deleted. A valid URL looks like https://www.instagram.com/reel/XXXXX/. Share-sheet links from the Instagram app sometimes include tracking parameters — strip everything after the last slash and retry. If the account recently went private, the Reel is now inaccessible.
  2. “Audio extraction failed” but the video download works fine. Instagram may have served the Reel in a container or codec the audio decoder doesn't handle — older Reels sometimes use different encoding. Wait a few minutes and retry (Instagram rotates CDN URLs periodically). If the problem persists, download the full MP4 video from the main downloader and extract the audio locally using VLC or Audacity.
  3. The MP3 downloads but is silent. The Reel may have been uploaded without an audio track. Some creators post video-only Reels — check by playing the Reel in Instagram first. If the Reel definitely has sound, try the full video download and extract the audio locally.
  4. Rate-limiting: the tool returns errors after several downloads. If you extract audio from many Reels in rapid succession, Instagram may throttle requests from the server's IP. Wait 10–15 minutes and try again. For bulk workflows, spread your downloads across multiple sessions.
  5. Instagram changed its API — nothing works. Instagram periodically updates how it serves media files. When this happens, every downloader breaks temporarily. This tool is actively maintained and typically updates within hours. Check back later, or try an alternative from our best downloaders comparison. Copyright and Responsible Use

Most audio on Instagram Reels is copyrighted music licensed to Instagram for in-app use only. That license does not extend to downloads outside the platform. Use extracted audio responsibly:

  • Personal listening: Generally fine — downloading a song from a public Reel for your own offline use is similar to recording the radio.
  • Using in your own Reels: Add music through Instagram's native audio browser instead of re-uploading a downloaded MP3. Tracks added through the app are covered by Instagram's music licenses. Uploading a Reel with externally added music may still get flagged by Instagram's content ID system.
  • YouTube, podcasts, commercial projects: Requires a separate license from the rights holder. Instagram's license does not cover these platforms.
  • Creator's original audio: Even if it's not a commercial song, the creator owns their recording. Downloading for personal reference is fine; republishing it as your own is not.
